Please read this before relying on any figure from MoneyOtter. The short version appears below every result.
The short version
Estimates for general information only — not financial, tax or legal advice. Your actual figures depend on your employer’s payroll, your full tax situation, your lender’s or bank’s terms and rules we may not model. Check official sources and speak to a qualified adviser before making decisions.
What the results are
MoneyOtter applies published formulas and reference data to the figures you enter, and shows the steps and assumptions behind each result. It knows nothing about you beyond those figures: not your full income, your tax position, your lender’s terms, or charges and rules that apply to your accounts.
What they aren’t
- Not advice. Nothing on the site is a recommendation to borrow, save, overpay, invest, convert currency or buy any product. MoneyOtter calculates and explains; it never advises. Comparisons describe scenarios, not choices you should make.
- Not an offer or a quote. Lenders, banks and card providers use their own rates, fees, day-count conventions and rounding. Their figures can differ from ours.
- Not a tax calculation for your return. The income tax bracket calculator applies rules you enter yourself; we haven’t checked them for any country.
Calculator-specific limits
- Currency: Currency figures use a reference rate, not a dealing rate. ECB reference rates are published for information and are not rates you can trade at.
- Inflation: official consumer price indexes measure average price changes; your own costs may have changed differently. Indexes can be revised by their publishers.
- Interest, savings and loans: results assume the rate and payments you enter stay as entered unless you model a change. Returns on savings and investments are not guaranteed.
- Mortgages: early repayment charges, prepayment penalties and overpayment allowances vary by lender and product. Many people keep an emergency fund before overpaying.
- VAT and sales tax: rates are checked against official sources on the date shown, but whether a reduced rate applies to a particular sale depends on detailed rules. US local sales tax rates are not included.
Rules and data change
Reference data shows the date it was published or checked. Rates and rules can change after that date. Check the changelog and the official sources linked from each calculator.
